Monica & Brandon

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings is getting to see customs and traditions that I've never seen before, so I was thrilled to shoot Monica & Brandon's Russian Orthodox ceremony this last June. The day started off with preparations in the hotel with a frantic bridesmaid making phone calls to locate missing family members while the other ladies helped Monica get ready.

The church itself was gorgeous - iconography everywhere you looked with an amazing richness of color. The light was beautiful and accentuated by the candles Monica and Brandon held throughout the ceremony.

Crowns were held over their heads for most of the service by the hardest working groomsmen I've ever seen!

They exited the church to the bridal party showering them with rose petals.

At the reception, they were toasted by Monica's father, the nobel prize winner, Dr. Yunus, who has a great sense of humor!

Finally, at the close of the night, guests lined up with sparklers to send Monica & Brandon off to their honeymoon. It was an amazing day and I'm so happy to have been part of it. Congratulations guys!

Chi & Adam

One of the most amazing things that happened for me at Chi & Adam's wedding was walking into the bridal suite and seeing Chi ready, dressed, makeup done, sitting down and relaxing - that never happens!

The wedding and reception were at beautiful Riverside Church - seeing her come down the aisle ( I love the red flowers and the red carpet) was breathtaking.

Adam and his groomsmen kicked the cool factor up a notch and the rest of the night was a great party - things got so CRAZY on the dance floor, Chi had to step away and catch her breath!

Apologies

I have to apologize for being absent from my blog for a couple of months now (yikes!). I have been shooting, which is why I've been neglecting to update the blog, but I'm trying to get caught up now! I won't post images from everything I've been working on, but it's been an exciting couple of months. In addition to all of the wonderful weddings I've shot, I've been busy with headshots, family portraits, a first communion and a baptism - it's been amazing to be part of so many different moments in people's lives - that's why I love doing what I do - being there to preserve all these special memories. The next couple of entries will be some highlights from recent weddings and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Kee & Yuri - The Proposal!

I had the unique opportunity to photograph a wedding proposal the other day in Union Square.  Kee made the proposal a family affair and had both his parents as well as Yuri's parents flown in as a surprise.  Surprised she was - as you can see from the look on her face when she first glimpsed her parents.

The parents presented Yuri with flowers and Kee got down on one knee in the middle of the square and popped the question; through her tears, Yudi said, "Yes."

It was an emotional day for everyone, including Kee who couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry!  I had a tough time staying dry eyed myself!  Congratulations guys!

Justine & Rudy

Kept my fingers crossed for Justine & Rudy's wedding on March 28th and we lucked out with no rain!  We were able to get some fun portraits in Central Park, before catching a ferry which took us to The Water's Edge, where they have a beautiful indoor ceremony with amazing views of Manhattan.

They brought in some gorgeous blossoms which surrounded them during the ceremony and really made it feel like spring had arrived!

Grabbed this last shot of them cuddling while Justine's dad made a wonderful toast to the happy couple.

Congratulations guys!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Got to spend my Valentine's Day with Sarah and Mike at The Riverside Church where they had a beautiful ceremony and reception.

They got a gorgeous day and we were able to duck outside for a few portraits.

Sarah & Mike win a couple of wedding awards:
Best first dance and most
unique wedding cake -
you can see the cake topper
on the Nintendo inspired cake!

Hope your Valentine's Day was as
beautiful and special as Sarah & Mike's!

Isabel & Teddy

My last wedding of 2008 was a really special one and a great way to wrap up the year.  Not only were the bride and groom great friends of ours (Isabel is our daughter's God Mother), but my wife and daughter were both in the wedding as the woman of honor and the flower girl, respectively.

The wedding was also unique in that I didn't spend the hours before the ceremony with the bride, but with the groom!  Some of Teddy's closest friends flew all the way in from New Zealand and we spent the morning showing his friend some great New York landmarks and getting some fun images - as you can see they literally stopped traffic by walking up 5th Avenue!

Glad to say our daughter (who's not yet 2) did a great job - she even stole a kiss from Isabel during the ceremony!

We're so happy for you guys - you
make such a beautiful
and happy couple!
